ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR

Start Date: Monday, August 27, 2018

 Mid-Maine Technical Center is a regional, technical high school serving 11th and 12th grade students from Lawrence, Messalonskee, Waterville, and Winslow High Schools. MMTC offers twenty-four technical courses that prepare students for post-secondary education and employment by providing instruction and practical experiences through industry-recognized curricula.

 THE ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

The Electrical Technology program follows the Core and Electrical Level I curriculum developed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Students completing the Electrical Technology program are eligible to earn Maine Journeyman 576-hour coursework, Maine Electrical Helpers License, NEC 45-hour Code Course, 10-hour OSHA card, and 3 college credits through Eastern Maine Community College. Courses include:

 Electrical Level I                                                                   Electrical Level II

                Workplace Safety                                                                 Advanced Wiring

                Residential Wiring Practices                                               Electrical System Design and Installation

                Intro to Alternative Energy                                                  Intro to Motor Controls

                NCCER Core Curriculum                                                       NCCER Electrical Level I  

THE INSTRUCTOR POSITION

·         School year position (183 days, including in-service days)

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Teaching high school students in a comprehensive Electrical Technology program using approved standards and curriculum.

·         Establishing and maintaining professional, collaborative relationships with community partners including local industry, state and industry training organizations, and colleges.

 QUALIFICATIONS

·         Master Electrician’s License, Maine or reciprocal state

·         Relevant work experience

·         Able to work and communicate well with students, teachers, parents, and community partners

·         Professional, cooperative, and respectful of the beliefs, opinions, and confidentiality of others

 Mid-Maine Technical Center is a regional, technical high school serving students from Lawrence, Messalonskee, Waterville, and Winslow High Schools.  The Career & College Advisor works collaboratively with administration, instructional and support staff, area school counselors, and our partners in the college and business communities.

 THE CAREER & COLLEGE ADVISOR POSITION

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Career & College Advisor is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive, regional program of Career & College planning and Career & Technical Education awareness for MMTC students and our area high schools and middle schools. This includes regional, school-wide, program-specific, small group, or individual programs, activities, and services related to:

 ·         Career Awareness and Preparation: career assessments, exploration, research, and planning

·         Job, College, and Scholarship Applications: resumes, cover letters, essay writing, interviewing skills, and organizing and presenting credentials

·         Off-site Work Experiences: business tours, job shadowing, and internships

·         College Fair, Career Fair, & College Tours

·         On-site college and career-related presentations and programs

·         Middle School presentations, tours, mentorships, and CTE experience programs

QUALIFICATIONS

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related field

·         Experience with student career and/or college planning, programming, and advising
