EMERGENCY SERVICES INSTRUCTOR: One-year Position

Immediate Opening

Mid-Maine Technical Center is a regional, technical high school serving 11th and 12th grade students from Lawrence, Messalonskee, Waterville, and Winslow High Schools as well as private, charter, and home-schooled students from our sending districts. MMTC offers twenty-four technical courses that prepare students for post-secondary education and employment by providing instruction and practical experiences through industry-recognized curricula.

 The Instructor Position

·         School year position (183 days, including in-service days)

·         35 hours per week

 Primary Responsibilities

  • Implementing a series of lessons and applied learning activities based on the state standards for EMT-Basic and Fire Fighter I and that emphasize student skill development and safety. 
  • Establishing a classroom environment that promotes student achievement, aspirations, and respectful, responsible student behavior.

·         Developing and maintaining professional, collaborative relationships with community partners including local industry, state and industry training organizations, and colleges.

  • Maintaining professional teaching certification through the Department of Education.
  • Participating in program-specific and school-wide committee work related to accreditation including, but not limited to Comprehensive School Review and the Safety & Health Award for Public Employers.

Qualifications

·         Relevant education, credentials, and work experience

·         Strong written, interpersonal, and organizational skills

·         Strong initiative and willingness to work independently

·         Able to work and communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and visitors

·         Cooperative, patient, and respectful of the beliefs, opinions, and confidentiality of others

·         Experience in Career and Technical Education and related technical fields preferred

Oversee daily caseload of students including day treatment program, crisis intervention, individual counseling, group counseling and family counseling.
Facilitate  team meetings regarding students with teachers, parents/legal guardians, and Administrators.
Facilitate classroom presentations regarding topics in mental health in collaboration with the school leadership team.
Have experience with the MaineCare Section 28 and 65 Programs including documentation, supervision, and clinical paperwork.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
LCSW, LCPC, LMSWcc OR LCPCc Licensure required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Master's Degree in Social Work or related field.
