Mid-Maine Technical Center


Anticipated Position for 2018-2019 School Year

 Mid-Maine Technical Center is a regional, technical high school serving students from Lawrence, Messalonskee, Waterville, and Winslow High Schools.  The Career & College Advisor works collaboratively with administration, instructional and support staff, area school counselors, and our partners in the college and business communities.


·         School year position (183 days, including in-service days)

·         Salary and Benefits based on Waterville Public Schools Teacher contract and includes: health Insurance, course reimbursement, sick leave, vacation time (Contract Link: http://www.aos92.org/our-district/aos-92-contracts)           


The Career & College Advisor is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive, regional program of Career & College planning and Career & Technical Education awareness for MMTC students and our area high schools and middle schools. This includes regional, school-wide, program-specific, small group, or individual programs, activities, and services related to:

 ·         Career Awareness and Preparation: career assessments, exploration, research, and planning

·         Job, College, and Scholarship Applications: resumes, cover letters, essay writing, interviewing skills, and organizing and presenting credentials

·         Off-site Work Experiences: business tours, job shadowing, and internships

·         College Fair, Career Fair, & College Tours

·         On-site college and career-related presentations and programs

·         Middle School presentations, tours, mentorships, and CTE experience programs


·         Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related field

·         Experience with student career and/or college planning, programming, and advising

·         Knowledge of Career & Educational Development Standards outlined in the Maine Learning Results                                                                                                                     (Link:     http://www.maine.gov/doe/careerandeducation/standards/index.html)               

·         Strong written and interpersonal skills

·         Able to work and communicate well with students, teachers, parents, and community partners

·         Cooperative, patient, and respectful of the beliefs, opinions, and confidentiality of others
